Discussion

Now that you've watched the Case Video, below you'll find a number of discussion questions. Some of these questions ask you to reflect on what you've seen in this video. Others may provide links to Web sites for further exploration.

1. Visit the Web sites of The Gap and Old Navy. Gap owns both retail chains and has taken a multiple concentrated approach to targeting different types of buyers. Comment on the appeal of each site and the segment each is supposed to attract. Are there implications for CanGo and its targeting strategy?

2. The Gen-X staffer in the Live Case Video has an extremely negative attitude about CanGo's advertising targeted to Baby Boomers. Do you think this might be typical of her demographic group? What problems does it pose for CanGo?

3. Do you have any suggestions for CanGo in terms of preventing these types of problems?

4. Should CanGo consider customized marketing to its customers? What would be some of the advantages and disadvantages of this approach?

Congratulations! You've come to the end of this episode.
